Christus House - Intentional Student Community

PLEASE NOTE: This is an intentional student living community, not (primarily) student housing. Residents sign a 9-month Occupancy Agreement, not a lease, and only students who demonstrate a clear understanding of and desire for life in intentional... community will be granted interviews following their application submissions.

The Christus House community is composed of Master's-level and undergraduate students attending either University of Oregon or Lane Community College. Our residents represent a wide range of Christian faiths, Catholic and Protestant; we also welcome any student open-heartedly engaging spiritual exploration and growth. We are multinational and LGBTQ-affirming, and strive to achieve economic accessibility for students.

What We Are:
1) We are an intentional community – community life together is real, and requires care and cultivation. Residents participate in weekly community nights on Sundays. They also work collaboratively to achieve mutual accountability for the household economy and management through establishing their own community covenant each fall, shared cleaning responsibilities, and rotating meal teams for the community night meal. Of course, we are also intentional about fun and fellowship, with game nights, movie nights, and underage-friendly house parties!

2) We are a residential community – this means we do provide housing. Residents live in furnished, private rooms, and share the remainder of their living space, including five all-gender bathrooms, living room and game room, commercial kitchen and dining room, and laundry facility. Off-street parking and all utility costs, including Wi-Fi and cable, are included in the monthly payment.

3) Our greatest growing edge, we are becoming a transformational community. We are doubling down on our commitment to foster a residential community that is safe and affirming for all students, where our differences are invaluable and instructive. The community is supported by student leadership, and all residents commit once a month to volunteer at our Hearth & Table meal program addressing student food insecurity.

If you're a student at University of Oregon, chances are you've walked past us before! At 18th and Potter, we're right across the street from the south edge of UO's campus and near bus lines to Lane Community College.

Residents of this intentional student community, in accordance with their Occupancy Agreement, reside in fully-furnished, private rooms and share all other spaces communally. This includes five single-occupancy bathrooms (beautifully renovated Summer 2017), a commercial kitchen and dining space, living room with fireplace, basement game room, a laundry room, additional interior storage, and exterior bike storage.

Monthly payments of $600/month include all utilities:
electric and heat
water/sewer/gas
garbage/recycling
laundry (not even coin-operated!)
cable TV
wireless internet
off-street parking (first-come, first-served)

Tours are offered following receipt of your application, which can be found on our website, along with fuller details about this unique student housing community. To learn more, please contact us!
